Rental and Leasing of Art Work

Maybe it is already since a while that you are playing with the idea of renting contemporary art work for your premises. As I regularly receive inquiries regarding the rental of my work, in the following I would like to give you some information on the rental of art work.

Inward and Outward Effects of Art

Works of art are a mirror of your personal or entrepreneurial philosophy, real artworks on your premises demonstrate strength, solidity and worthiness. Often its is large scale originals in halls, foyers, representational rooms etc. that give the right atmosphere and positively strengthen identity and image. And: who demonstrates openness to art will be perceived as modern and flexible and efficiently differentiates from others.

Besides the above there is yet another "internal" effect for a company that invites artwork: staff that is allowed to give a voice when choosing artwork that will be displayed in their immediate working environment will be more motivated and the overall social atmosphere will be improved: factors that definitely will give a positive impulse to a company's success.

Renting or buying art? - Tax Questions...

Rental or leasing expenses for art work are fully tax deductible while purchasing works of art will bind liquid capital and is generally is not advisable as a means to reduce a company's taxable profits.

Another advantage to renting, is that after several months a "new set" of paintings could be exhibited which would offer a "fresh" look in your working environment.

Art Rental and Factors that Influence the Rental Costs

Prices for art rental vary with size and value of the individual work. However, there are yet other factors that influence the rental costs:

• the total number of art works rented
• public accessibility to your premises, p. ex. for guided tours
• the rental period
• if art is rented by a private person or a company
