The ink drawings here presented are part of a series now containing more than 40 pieces, all dealing with the artistic and musical achievements of Shirley Horn.

Ms. Horn connects her musical talent with the ability to express female passion in an adult and at the same time innocent manner. The Ink drawings follow her "Story of Love", a voyage from feminine romanticism and playfulness to proud rejection of a lover who has blown it, from intimacy and sublime tenderness to the desire to forget and let go: all the possible positions, the miracles and the wages of romantic love.
About Shirley Horn
Shirley Horn is a legend who has set a standard of excellence in jazz music with her sheer grace and artistry as both a jazz vocalist and pianist. When Ms. Horn sings a song, she changes the way we hear it forever.
Shirley Horn released her first album, Embers and Ashes, in 1960 and has recorded over twenty albums since then. It was Miles Davis who discovered her when she was still a teenager, singing in Washington DC and brought her to New York City.
The jazz legend Shirley Horn died at the age of 71 on October 20, 2005.

Die vorliegenden Tuschezeichnungen stammen aus einem Zyklus von mittlerweile über 40 Arbeiten, der sich mit dem musikalischen Werk von Shirley Horn auseinandersetzt.
Horn verbindet ihre musikalische Meisterschaft mit der Fähigkeit, weibliche Leidenschaft auf eine ihr eigene, zugleich abgeklärte und unschuldige Weise auszudrücken. Die Tuschezeichnungen folgen ihrer "Story of Love", einer Reise von weiblicher Romanik und Verspieltheit zu stolzer Rückweisung eines abgelegten Liebhabers, von Intimität, sublimer Zärtlichkeit und Sehnsucht zu Vergessen und Loslassen: all die möglichen Positionen, die Wunder und Wagnisse romantischer Liebe.

Shirley Horn ist eine Legende, die ihrer Anmut und Kunstfertigkeit in der Jazzmusik Standards gesetzt hat, sowohl als Sängerin wie auch als Pianist. Wenn Shirley Horn ein Lied singt, dann ändert sich auf immer die Weise, wie wir es hören.
Shirley Horn brachte ihr erstes Album, Embers and Ashes 1960 heraus und hat seitdem mehr als 20 Alben aufgezeichnet. Es war Miles Davis, der sie noch als Jugendliche bei einem Konzert in Washington DC entdeckten und nach New York brachte.
