Der Himmel (The Sky)

"Der Himmel, das Bett in den Wolken" (The Sky, the bed in the clouds) makes reference to the matrimonial bed - which finally will become a burning pyre, for her to reunite one last time with her husband. But the bed in the fire transforms into a bed in the clouds; cool and airy, heavenly and free. The airy element is reflected in the coolness of the blue.

"Der Himmel, das Bett in den Wolken" macht eine Referenz zum ehelichen Bett - das in letzter Instanz zum brennenden Scheiterhaufen wird, wo sich die Witwe ein letztes mal mit ihrem Ehemann vereinigen wird. Aber das Bett aus Feuer wird zum Bett in den Wolken: kühl und luftig, himmlisch und frei. Das luftige Element spiegelt sich in der Kühle des Blaus wieder.
